Chelsea U21 ready to face Nottingham Forest U21
Chelsea Under-21s couldn't quite find a late winner against Nottingham Forest Under-21s in their Premier League 2 clash at the City Ground on Wednesday afternoon.
Despite dominating possession and creating a number of chances, the Blues were unable to break down a resolute Forest defence and had to settle for a point.
The first half was a fairly even affair, with both sides having chances to take the lead. Chelsea had the better of the possession, but Forest were dangerous on the counter-attack. The closest either side came to scoring in the opening 45 minutes was when Bryan Fiabema fired just wide for the visitors.
Chelsea started the second half strongly and should have taken the lead when Harvey Vale found himself through on goal, but he could only fire straight at the Forest goalkeeper. The Blues continued to press for a winner, but Forest defended stoutly and held on for a point.
The result leaves Chelsea in fourth place in the Premier League 2 table, while Nottingham Forest are eighth.
