Biography

Early Life and Career

Shelly-Ann Fraser-Pryce, née Fraser, was born on December 27, 1986, in Kingston, Jamaica. Her exceptional speed and athleticism were evident from a young age. She began her track and field career at Wolmer's High School for Girls and later represented the University of Technology, Jamaica.

Olympic Success

Fraser-Pryce made her Olympic debut at the 2008 Beijing Games, where she won a silver medal in the 100-meter dash. She went on to secure the gold medal in the same event at the 2012 London Olympics and 2016 Rio Olympics. With her three Olympic golds, she became the first Caribbean woman to win the 100-meter dash multiple times.

World Championships Dominance

At the World Championships, Fraser-Pryce has also achieved remarkable success. She holds a record eight world titles in individual sprint events, including four in the 100 meters (2009, 2013, 2015, and 2019) and two in the 200 meters (2013 and 2019). Her dominance in the 100 meters has earned her the nickname "Pocket Rocket".
