Background

On Wednesday, February 15, 2023, a student at Penns Manor High School in Clymer, Pennsylvania, was cited for making a bomb threat, according to Clymer Borough Police Chief, Sean Patrick.

Investigation

The incident occurred around 8:30 a.m. when the school administration received an anonymous tip regarding the potential threat. Police and school officials immediately initiated an investigation and conducted a thorough search of the school, but no suspicious items or devices were found.

Student Interview

Police then interviewed students and staff members and identified a suspect, a 17-year-old male student. The student was taken into custody and charged with terroristic threats, a felony offense. The student is now facing school disciplinary action, including possible suspension or expulsion.

Police Statement

In a statement, Chief Patrick emphasized the seriousness of bomb threats and the consequences they entail. He said, "Making threats of violence, whether real or not, is a serious crime that will not be tolerated. We take all threats seriously and will investigate them thoroughly."

School Response

Penns Manor Area School District Superintendent, Dr. Michael Passarelli, expressed relief that no one was harmed. He stressed the importance of reporting any potential threats or concerns to school officials or law enforcement. He said, "We have zero tolerance for threats of violence. The safety and security of our students and staff is our top priority."

The incident remains under investigation by Clymer Borough Police.
